MAG Cinema at Lotte Cinema Sillim: LED Installation Powered by the New Samsung Onyx
Lotte Cinema Sillim (Seoul, Korea) reopened on October 2, 2025, following a major renovation that introduced a completely renewed infrastructure and an expanded multi-cultural space. The highlight of the project is the Gwang-eum LED auditorium, built around the new Samsung Onyx LED Cinema Screen — a next-generation display delivering brightness levels up to 300 nits and a custom-scaled size of approximately 11.5 × 6.3 meters. This configuration provides exceptional image clarity, contrast, and stability, creating a true full-field-of-view experience. Alongside the flagship auditorium, the renovation also included recliner seating, an upgraded lobby, self-service kiosks, and improved guest amenities — all designed for maximum comfort and convenience.
At MAG Cinema, we continuously look toward the future of cinema. Last year, we introduced, and this year expanded, a new line of premium sound solutions specifically designed for LED screens, which are rapidly defining the next generation of high-end movie experiences. The main challenge with LED technology is its acoustic opacity — traditional screen channels cannot be placed behind the screen. To preserve precise sound localization and seamless synchronization with the image, our engineers developed near-screen acoustic configurations that ensure perfect sound alignment and optimal coverage geometry.
Lotte Cinema Sillim marks the first commercial installation of the MAG Cinema LED Series, carried out by our Korean partner RNR, who completed system installation and calibration in accordance with DTS:X immersive sound requirements.
