MAG Cinema at Lotte Cinema Sillim: A Landmark LED Installation Featuring the New Samsung Onyx
On October 2, 2025, Lotte Cinema Sillim (Seoul, Korea) reopened its doors after a comprehensive renovation that transformed the venue into a modern, multi-cultural hub. At the heart of this transformation is the Gwang-eum LED auditorium, centered around the latest Samsung Onyx LED Cinema Screen — a next-generation display boasting up to 300 nits of brightness and a custom size of approximately 11.5 × 6.3 meters. This setup delivers outstanding image clarity, contrast, and stability, offering audiences a truly immersive, full-field-of-view experience. The renovation also introduced recliner seating, a redesigned lobby, self-service kiosks, and enhanced amenities — all tailored for elevated comfort and convenience.
At MAG Cinema, we continuously look toward the future of cinema. Last year, we introduced, and this year expanded, a new line of premium sound solutions specifically designed for LED screens, which are rapidly defining the next generation of high-end movie experiences. The main challenge with LED technology is its acoustic opacity — traditional screen channels cannot be placed behind the screen. To preserve precise sound localization and seamless synchronization with the image, our engineers developed near-screen acoustic configurations that ensure perfect sound alignment and optimal coverage geometry.
Lotte Cinema Sillim is the first commercial deployment of the MAG Cinema LED Series, expertly installed and calibrated by our Korean partner RNR to meet DTS:X immersive audio standards.
