MAG Cinema at The 23, Centre for Fine Arts (Bozar), Brussels, Belgium

The Centre for Fine Arts (Bozar) in Brussels stands as one of Belgium’s foremost cultural institutions and a cornerstone of European artistic life. Since its opening in 1928 in the iconic Victor Horta–designed building, Bozar has been a hub for music, visual arts, theatre, and cinema. This legacy was further enriched with the inauguration of The 23, an intimate cinema auditorium. Situated in the heart of Brussels’ Royal Quarter, The 23 is a 75-seat venue dedicated to curated film programs, arthouse screenings, and documentary cinema. Once an exhibition space, it has been fully reimagined as a modern, multipurpose cinema. The transformation introduced amphitheater-style seating, advanced acoustic treatment, a new screen installation, a boothless projection concept, and complete integration of image, sound, IT, and TMS systems, all while preserving the architectural integrity of the historic building.

Acoustic excellence was central to the design of The 23, reflecting Bozar’s reputation as a premier cultural venue. MAG Cinema loudspeaker systems were selected to ensure precise sound localization, controlled dynamics, and a natural, fatigue-free listening experience—qualities that are especially vital in a space of this scale.
CinemaNext Belgium oversaw the full system design and installation, delivering a solution that blends seamlessly with the venue’s architecture and refined atmosphere.
Installed MAG Cinema Equipment:
✔️ 3 × MAG Cinema SCR-15S screen speakers
✔️ 14 × MAG Cinema SUR-408 surround speakers

With this balanced combination of screen, surround, and low-frequency systems, The 23 achieves clean, detailed, and immersive sound that enhances the emotional resonance of each film while respecting artistic intent. It exemplifies how cutting-edge cinema audio technology can harmoniously coexist with historic architecture and cultural heritage.

The Bozar project reaffirms that MAG Cinema solutions excel not only in large multiplexes but also in boutique, high-end cultural venues—where precision, atmosphere, and sound quality are indispensable to the cinematic experience.
